Aruba has always been a favorite destination for romantic getaways, honeymoons and more recently, weddings.  Honeymooning couples have always received the red carpet treatment on Aruba. The island, long thought of as a couples' paradise for its idyllic scenery and laid back lifestyle, now offers even greater amenities through its popular “One Cool Honeymoon” promotion. Honeymooners receive a bottle of champagne in their room upon arrival, a souvenir gift from their resort, as well as a free night on a return anniversary visit. Newlyweds only need to identify themselves at the time of booking their resort to automatically receive the above listed package features, FREE!

The island is 20 miles long by 6 miles wide. Aruba has long, powder-white beaches – Palm Beach and Eagle Beach, 30 yards deep and miles long are considered two of the finest in the Caribbean.

Aruba is famous for its high-rise resort hotels on Palm Beach and its incredible shopping, dining and nightlife in its capital city of Oranjestad. The island's desert topography is studded with cacti and aloe plants, as well as the distinctive divi divi trees, which are dramatically twisted and bent from wind whipping across the island.

The idyllic scenery and uncrowded settings of Aruba are perfectly suited to romantic getaways, honeymoons and weddings. Extensive couple-orientated activities, dining, shopping and nightlife options, in which honeymooners are given special treatment, only help guarantee an unforgettable experience for couples.

Exploring Aruba

Aruba is not a large island, and it's very easy to get around. Although many tourists opt to get around to restaurants and nightclubs by taxi, others have discovered that Aruba's bus system is efficient, easy to use and quite affordable. The bus runs frequently between the main bus station in downtown Oranjestad and the entire hotel strip.

If you'd like to explore the whole island, you can rent a scooter, or a motorcycle (even a Harley!) Car rentals are available, but most people prefer to rent a 4-wheel drive jeep because Aruba's terrain can be rugged. Escorted tours on a variety of vehicles, from motorcoach to jeep caravans are another option. DePalm Tours is one operator that offers Jeep tours (www.depalm.com). These tours visit many of Aruba's landmarks such as the California Lighthouse, built in 1910 and Alto Vista chapel, a historic chapel built in 1750.
